The sequence was captured using time-lapse cameras, specialist macro lenses, portable lights and a US-military developed thermal camera that records the heat signature of objects warmer or cooler than their surroundings. Importing military hardware into China wasn't an option, so the thermal cam images were recorded at Cornwall's Eden Project when their elephant yam came into flower.
