Marram

A mother to two very different sons fights to preserve her family, and their island home.

A contemporary story following a family on a Hebridean island as they try to understand and revive a beloved son. Kevin has not spoken in months. His mother Maragaidh embarks on a journey to collect something which may help him. Somewhere along the way, she also retrieves something forgotten in herself. On her return, she must reconcile all this with the frustrations of her other son, Seamus. Meanwhile, the marram grass they need to thatch the roof over their heads recedes from a gradually eroding coastline.

A new short film by Elspeth Turner and Robbie Jones, shot in Berneray, North Uist and in Edinburgh. It stars Dolina Maclennan, Daibhidh Walker and Ewan James Armstrong, and features a transcendent score by Gaelic electronica duo, WHYTE.
