Tom Service introduces some of the latest sounds in the world of new music including important new works from Lara Poe and Enno Poppe.
Finnish composer Lara Poe's Kaamos, is a ten-minute long orchestral exploration of the unique limbo between darkness and daylight whilst Enno Poppe's 50-minute Prozession - 鈥淧rocession鈥� - is a breathtakingly imaginative homage to the processional music of Berlioz and Mahler. But Poppe's work uses the orchestra - which includes electric guitars, trumpets and saxophones - with the utmost economy. The performance from Cologne-based Ensemble Musikfabrik was one of the hottest tickets at last November's Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
