Eilean nan Dineasair
Revealing the variety and importance of Jurassic dinosaur finds on Skye. Beairteas là raich chudromach dìneasar na linne Jurassic san Eilean Sgitheanaich.
Skye as you’ve never seen it before - a subtropical landscape of beaches, lagoons...and dinosaurs! 170 million years ago, Skye was a stomping ground for dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes, including theropods that later evolved into the famous T-rex, huge, long-necked sauropods that were the largest animals in the world at the time and plated ornithischians such as early stegosaurs.
The Middle Jurassic was an important period in the evolution of dinosaurs and Skye is one of the few places in the world where Middle Jurassic fossils have been found. This programme visits sites across the island where dinosaur footprints and bones have been discovered, and talks to the experts who found and studied them. At Staffin Museum, dinosaur and fossil expert and enthusiast Dugie Ross tells us about his unique collection.
An t-Eilean Sgitheanach ann an seadh nach fhaca sibh riamh – dùthaich bhog bhruthainneach, le trà ighean, linneachan mara bhlà tha – agus dìneasairean.

Nam measg bha theropods – sinnsrean an t-Rex, sauropods mhòra an amhaich fhada, na beathaichean bu mhotha air an t-saoghal aig an à m, agus ornithischians – stegosaurs sa leithid – le leacan air an druim.
Bha meadhan na linne Jurassic cudromach ann an leasachadh gnè nan dìneasair. 'S e fìor bheag a dh’à itichean san t-saoghal – an t-Eilean Sgitheanach nam measg – san d’fhuaireadh fosailean bho mheadhan an Jurassic. Tha’m prògram seo a’tadhal air na là raich far an do lorgadh cnà mhan is là raich spòg, agus a’seanchas riuthasan a chruinnich agus a rannsaich iad.
