Review
This programme looks back at some of the stories featured in ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ over the last six months with updates on what happened after first broadcast.
In November 2020 Alasdair Macleod reported on proposals to licence grouse shooting on Scottish estates in a bid to combat the illegal killing of birds of prey and make the activity more sustainable. There were concerns as to the impact of such a scheme on the livelihoods of shooting estates and the communities that depend on them. Also in November, ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ reported on a campaign for more affordable housing in west coast island communities.
In January 2021 Annabel Maclennan reported on a controversial proposal for a space port in Sutherland. It had been given the go-ahead and also has the support of local crofters but others are concerned about the project's potential impact on an environmentally important area and it has become the subject of a judicial review.
In February Andreas Wolff was in Germany investigating the impact of the Berlin city government’s cap on rents for housing, and Angela Maclean reported on controversial moves to centralise air traffic control services in the Highlands and Islands. The body implementing the changes say they are essential for the modernisation of the service but local communities fear the loss of skilled jobs.
Finally, in March, Mairi Rodgers reported on competing views on how best to manage the inshore fisheries of the west coast of Scotland.
