Qasa Alom charts the contribution Bangladeshis have made to Britain.

As Bangladesh celebrates its 50th year since independence from Pakistan, every day this week, we’ll be playing an episode from our documentary ‘Bangladesh at 50’.

Around half a million people of Bangladeshi origin now live in the UK. From curry houses to civic life, Qasa charts the contribution of Bangladeshis to Britain, speaking to renowned choreographer Akram Khan and Rushanara Ali, the first MP of Bangladeshi origin.

Also our reporter, Poonam Taneja, explores activism and the fight against racism, within areas such as East London.
