Ahead of International Women's Day Cerys celebrates millinery with Jess Collett and speaks to Anita Adelitas, the director of the UK's first all female Mariachi band, Mariachi Las Adelitas UK.

With an eclectic playlist handpicked by Cerys expect to hear songs from around the world and cross-genre gems blended with voices from the 91热爆 archive. This week Cerys features tracks from TLC, Sarah Webster Fabio, Little Simz, Koffee and Etta James. Plus the voices of silent-film actors Mary Pickford and Gloria Swanson on their careers and the advent of talking-movies. We also hear the voice of Norah Chambers, a classically trained musician who set up a vocal orchestra whilst in a World War II prisoner of war camp and Buffy Sainte-Marie.

Jess Collett has worked as a couture milliner for 25 years, creating hats for Madonna, Helena Bonham Carter and Thandie Newton. Jess discusses the history of hat making in the UK as well as top hats, berets and the skill involved in making a Panama hat. Cerys finds archive of live as a milliner's apprentice in 1902, earning up to 16 shillings a week.

Speaking to Cerys from Mexico, Anita Adelitas explains why she set up Europe's only all-female Mariachi band, a genre which has previously been seen as macho and male dominated. Embarking on the project, Anita had to teach the musicians how to play the unique Mariachi instruments including the vihuela and the guitarr贸n as well as creating a number of arrangements of well-known songs in English, adapted to an authentic mariachi style.
