Mark and Stuart play an eclectic selection of tracks that have featured in our favourite TV shows

Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie present a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast.

Since many of us have watched a lot of telly in 2020 and will be watching more over the Christmas period, Mark and Stuart celebrate the art of the TV soundtrack in a special Boxing Day show. All the tracks today have featured in TV shows and series soundtracks.

From The Sopranos to Peaky Blinders, from classic sitcoms liked Spaced to recent hit series like I May Destroy You and Killing Eve, TV series are increasingly using music and curated soundtracks to spectacular effect. They鈥檝e introduced audiences to new artists and songs as well as made memorable use of classic tracks. Harry Nilsson鈥檚 1971 B-side 鈥楪otta Get Up鈥�, is among the selections, having been used prominently in the 2019 American comedy-drama series Russian Doll starring and co-created by Natasha Lyonne.

Mark and Stuart pick some of their favourite songs from some of their favourite TV series, and share listener favourites too. With music from artists including Michael Kiwanuka, Jefferson Airplane, Arctic Monkeys, Massive Attack, Greentea Peng and Sly & The Family Stone.

They also have some guess-that-theme-tune quiz fun too.
