First, Last and Everything Best Bits
Mark and Stuart present highlights from this year’s ‘First, Last and Everything’ guests including Tricky, Angel Olsen, Neil Tennant, Johnny Vegas, Lianne La Havas and Pauline Black
Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie present a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast
On today's show, there's another chance to hear some of the best bits from this year's 'First, Last and Everything' guests.
On Sundays Mark and Stuart invite guests to share their 'First, Last and Everything' - the first record they ever bought or owned, the most recent one they've been enjoying and the record that means 'everything' to them. Barry White's classic track 'You're the First, the Last, My Everything' is the feature's jingle. Guests from the worlds of comedy and poetry as well as music have graced the airwaves this year discussing their track choices and sharing their musical memories.
Some of the past year’s highlights in today’s show include comedian Johnny Vegas reminiscing about the first single he bought being played in the seminary common room; The Selecter’s Pauline Black on the importance of Joni Mitchell’s music to her, Angel Olsen on the perfect music for parties, and Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant on the Dusty Springfield album that means everything to him. There are also highlights from Lianne La Havas, Tricky, James Dean Bradfield of Manic Street Preachers, comedian David Baddiel, actor Ruth Jones, poet Jackie Kay and The National’s Matt Berninger.
