Episode 6
The team attempt to capture the birth of some eagerly awaited cheetah cubs, Kate Humble meets a cute new sealion pup, and we meet the family behind the Safari Park鈥檚 very existence
In the first in a week of special episodes, Kate Humble and Ben Fogle are back at Longleat Safari Park, celebrating the animal families who call it home. First up, they look back at the family who started it all. Over fifty years ago, Britain鈥檚 first safari park opened its gates to the public and Ben and Kate return to celebrate, commemorate and continue the story of Britain鈥檚 wildest country house. They take a trip down memory lane, looking back at rare archive footage of the safari park鈥檚 first visitors and re-live the moment fifty lions were unleashed on unsuspecting Brits!
Back to the present day, they follow the dedicated keepers of African safari who, with the help of the Animal Park team, attempt to film the birth of Africa鈥檚 most endangered cat. If our cameras can capture this incredible moment, it鈥檒l be the first time the keepers have ever seen a cheetah birth at the park. Not only a win for conservation, but an amazing asset for the keepers as they continue their quest to breed this endangered species.
Meanwhile, the vets rush to the aid of Stephanie, an elderly and much-loved member of the zebra family. She is being bullied by the rest of the herd, but can they do enough to save her? And Kate goes weak at the knees when she meets a new arrival at sea-lion beach, the latest addition to the Animal Park family.
