North West - Main & Dessert Courses
The remaining chefs cook mains and desserts, including a Beatrix Potter extravaganza and a Not So Giant Peach. A surprise veteran judge helps with scoring the main dishes.
The three chefs are halfway through their heat, and the pressure is mounting. With Angela unable to judge for the main course, fellow veteran judge Michael O鈥橦are steps in. With Beatrix Potter an inspiration for two chefs, it is down to Michael to decide which herdwick lamb dish is better than the other. Another chef is taking inspiration from JM Barrie and creating his own imaginary feast. Will the chefs impress Michael with their creations?
After the nail-biting scoring on the mains, presenter Susan Calman asks the chefs to prepare a pre-dessert. Michael blind-tastes and ranks them in the case of a tie, so the chefs need to produce the very best dishes they can.
Angela is back to judge the dessert and is expecting great things. There is a dish inspired by Squirrel Nutkin, with a honey ice cream and almond cake. One chef has taken inspiration from the nation鈥檚 favourite children鈥檚 author, Roald Dahl, and his book James and the Giant Peach. And there is a dish close to another chef's heart with an interpretation of Horrid Henry鈥檚 Perfect Day - a take on spaghetti and meatballs but in a dessert!
Only two can proceed to Friday鈥檚 judging and have a chance to represent their region in the finals.
