She finds out that this could partly be a legacy of the Communist era. A plan in Poland to build a canal on land in the north of the country which is bordered with Russia has proven controversial. Karen Elder finds out that while some local towns may benefit from the increased shipping activity, there are concerns both about the environmental impact and relations with Russia.
