In this week’s programme Karen Elder is in Poland reporting on a controversial draft bill before parliament aimed at protecting children. Annabel Maclennan reports from Romania 30 years after the overthrow of the former communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. She speaks to the some of the people who took part in the revolution.

Citizens' initiative to tackle paedophilia

A citizens' initiative was put to the Polish Parliament that aims to tackle paedophilia. Karen Elder reports on how some think, with how the current draft bill is written, there is a direct link made between the LGBT community and paedophilia. The LGBT community already feels under threat in Poland. Most of the population are Catholic and the Catholic Church teaches that such ideology is completely unacceptable, and some districts have declared themselves "LGBT free". But for those campaigning for the draft bill to become law, it is necessary to protect children.

The Romanian Revolution

The 16th of December will mark 30 years since the start of Romania's revolution against the Communist regime. These events culminated with the execution of the dictator Nicolae Ceausescu who had been the leader of the Communist Party for 25 years. Annabel Maclennan speaks to those involved. What happened in December 1989 and how have those days affected the Romania of today?
