Following the death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, Steve repeats his 2019 Drumming Masterclass special. First broadcast in November 2019, Taylor takes Steve through a tour of his drum kit, talking us through his childhood, his influences, the sounds of his drum kit, & what it鈥檚 like drumming with both Alanis Morrissette & Dave Grohl. Also, Taylor & Steve discuss what it takes to become a drummer. What inspires someone to pick up a pair of drumsticks in the first place? And just how important is the drummer to a band?

Taylor joined Foo Fighters in 1997. Prior to that he was the touring drummer for Alanis Morissette as well as the drummer in progressive experimental band Sylvia.

Taylor Hawkins died aged 50 on Friday. The band said they were "devastated by the tragic and untimely loss" in a statement on social media. No cause of death has been given. Hawkins played with Foo Fighters for more than two decades, joining shortly after they finished making their 1997 album The Colour and the Shape.

"His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live with us forever," Foo Fighters wrote. "Our hearts go out to his wife, children, and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time."
