This week, top Irish singer Damien Dempsey performs live, ahead of St. Patrick鈥檚 Day on 17 March.

One of Dublin鈥檚 favourite sons, 鈥楧amo鈥� grew up in a musical house and chose music over his other early passion, competitive boxing. Since 2000 he鈥檚 made nine albums of gritty, soulful, no-nonsense music with much to say about modern Irish life and society.

His new album, Union, features duets and collaborations with singers including Wildwood Kin, John Grant, Lisa O鈥橬eill, Finbar Furey, Seamus Begley, Pauline Scanlon and Kate Tempest. He鈥檒l play songs from the album, and other favourites, on this week鈥檚 Folk Show.
