Tha am program seo a’ sealltainn Ameireaga anns na 20an ann an dath airson a’ chiad uair. Documentary showing 1920s America in colour for the first time.
Ann an tasglann nach deach fhaicinn a-riamh ron seo, tha am program seo a’ sealltainn na 20an ann an dath airson a’ chiad uair. Anns na 1920an, tha na Stà itean Aonaichte a’ dol tron atharrachadh as motha ann an eachdraidh. Thairis air deich bliadhna, tha an dùthaich anns an robh carbaidean-eich, aodach ciallach agus taighean-òsta a’ dol à bith. Tha boireannaich a’ faighinn cothrom bhòtadh, a’ piobrachadh toiseach tòiseachaidh linn nam ‘flappers’.
Tha iad ag òl, a’ dannsa agus a’ cruthachadh stoidhle ùr, a’ cur cumadh air an ath ghinealach de bhoireannaich neo-eisimeileach. Ach an uairsin, tha deoch-là idir air a thoirmeasg. ’S e an rùn, an dùthaich a dhèanamh ciallach, ach an à ite sin, tha cultar de cheòl, measgachadh cinnidh agus pailteas de dheoch là idir mì-laghail air a chruthachadh. Ach anns a’ cheann a deas, tha na h-atharrachaidhean sa chultar a’ cur dragh air mòran. Tha an Klu Klux Klan a’ tighinn beò agus tha cùis chùirte ann an Tennessee a’ cur a’ Bhìobaill fhèin fo sgrùdadh.
In never-before-seen archive, this documentary show us the era of the 1920s in colour for the first time. In the 1920s, the USA undergoes the greatest period of change in its history. In ten years, a country of horse drawn carriages, modest clothing and saloons is overthrown. Women win the right to vote, triggering the birth of what becomes known as the flapper. They drink socially, dance and pioneer an entirely new look, shaping the next generation of independent women.
But then, Prohibition ushers in an alcohol ban. The intention is to clean up society, but instead it creates a thriving underground cultural of music, racial mixing and illegal alcohol. But in the south, the cultural changes unsettle many. The Ku Klux Klan rises and a court case in Tennessee puts the bible itself on trial.
