Sara Cox sits in
Sara is joined by McFly's Danny Jones as he's returning as a judge in the brand new series of The Voice Kids.
Sara is joined by McFly's Danny Jones, ahead of the new series of The Voice Kids, and also tells us about his debut solo single Is This Still Love. Instead of hearing your early achievements, you tell us where you will be at 7pm this evening instead of watching the World Cup Semi-Final - reasons include aerial yoga, brutal bootcamps and canine security! You tell us about your rowdy wedding songs and we kick-off your wonderful Wednesday with a Half Wower filled with tunes from Wham!, Chaka Khan and Led Zeppelin. Vassos is joined in the Sports Locker by 91Èȱ¬ 5 Live commentator Ian Dennis live from Russia, who's eaten his bus ticket to increase the chances of England winning! Plus Reverend Matt Woodcock provides the daily Pause For Thought.

Pause For Thought
Matt Woodcock, Church of England Pioneer Minister and Mission Supporter in the Diocese of York:
Well, I’ve only been in my new
church a few months and, rather embarrassingly, I’ve already had a noise
complaint.  It was fair enough, though. In hindsight my enthusiastic commentary on
that game of British Bulldogs did not need amplification. Microphone
levels need careful monitoring when I’m in front of one – except when I’m here
of course.
The collective sound of hearing aids being turned down has become all too
familiar during my sermons. Â And ministering at nursing homes, hospital
wards and even riotous toddler groups, I’m forever getting shushed. I’ve always
had a natural instinct to interact with people at great volume. I’d make a
terrible librarian. Â At school, my big mouth generated countless
detentions, scathing reports and constant visits to the head’s office. Â
In one science lesson, my cacophonous clowning turned a quiet, elderly
supply teacher into a screaming, red-faced wreck. He shouted so loudly at me to be quiet that
his false teeth flew out of his mouth and clattered across the classroom.
The memory of the poor guy trying to restore order without his gnashers
in, still haunts me.
In fact, the only person who consistently managed to hush me for any
length of time, was my late spiritual director. A wonderful nun called Sister
Cecilia. Visits to her convent were like a sacred spa day. Guided by her
soft, soothing voice and wise counsel, I’d learn to turn off the noise and let
the discipline of stillness and silence restore me. Drawing on the wisdom of the great Christian
mystics, Cecilia taught me about the ‘Prayer of Quiet’. Â
Moments to experience God in a deep and meaningful way, but in a
distinctly quiet way too - that went beyond words. Â In his divine
mountainside encounter, the prophet Elijah heard God not in the mighty wind,
the earthquake or roaring fire - but in the sound of ‘a gentle whisper’.
So I’m learning that sometimes in the midst of my noisy life, making space to
turn down the volume can be transformative. Having said that, there will be no
gentle whispers tonight. When I watch
England play Croatia, I plan to be as loud as is humanly possible. And no offence to the memory of my wonderful
nun, but my prayers, too, will be anything but quiet ones.
