Theresa May has said the country needs to learn to live within its means after repeated calls for her to reverse the public sector pay cap.

It follows news that firefighters - whose pay wages are negotiated separately - have rejected a 2% pay rise; double the 1% maximum for other public sector workers.

Labour said the limit which has been in force since 2010 was "unfair".
