Marching and Waltzing

Frank Renton remembers Marching and Waltzing, a radio classic which ran for 40 years.

Marching and Waltzing was a Light Programme favourite for more than 40 years and comes from the days when there were umpteen band broadcasts every week. It started out as a record programme but quickly developed into one of the most popular live music broadcasts on the airwaves. Frank Renton takes a trip down that memory lane with music that was heard back in the day such as the original opening Sousa March King Cotton and The Westminster Waltz by Robert Farnon along with more recent examples such as The Imperial March from Star Wars by the great John Williams.
