DIY Politics

Tina Daheley follows five of the UK's leading young activists and finds out what it means to be a youth campaigner during an intensely political year.

In the run up to the most hotly contended election for years, Tina Daheley follows five of the UK's leading youth activists as they campaign for their causes in the run-up to polling day.

Kieran, Melanie, Chante, Chris and Tamanna are prime examples of a new generation of young people that are turning away from party politics and moving towards direct action and alternative campaigning. Whether they're campaigning for better mental health services, fighting against fracking, on a mission to change the voting age, spearheading a human rights campaign or lobbying for the living wage, these young people are taking matters into their own hands, and making a lot of noise while they do it.

Through a mix of self recorded audio diaries, and confessional interviews from our five activists out on the campaign trail, Tina finds out what it means to be a youth campaigner in this intensely political year.
