Luca Pisaroni first came to prominence a decade ago at the Salzburg Festival. Now in his mid-thirties, he regularly sings at the world's leading opera houses: this season includes his Covent Garden debut as well as leading roles at the Vienna State and New York Metropolitan opera houses. His recital includes songs by Johann Friedrich Reichardt, who died two hundred years ago: he was brought up to be a court musician, but after meeting Immanuel Kant he studied philosophy and became a revolutionary, active in France and Poland. In between these activities, he found time to write a series of charming songs and chamber pieces.
