Tale of Two Cities
Drama series following kids as they move to secondary school. Having recently moved to Manchester from Wales, Owain is desperate to go back home.
Owain is dreading his first day of secondary school. Having recently moved to Manchester from Wales, he's desperate to go back home. His only friend is pet hen Bronwyn, much to his parents' concern. Owain fears being tarred with the same brush as his troublemaker brothers Reece and Ellis, so it's his worst nightmare when his brothers wind up mouthy classmate Sophia. The incident draws unwanted attention to Owain but he finds a friend in Sophia's victim, Kurdish refugee Zana. The pair bond and pair up for a school assignment - a presentation about each other.
When Sophia's on the warpath after school, Owain escapes to Zana's house for a traditional Kurdish dinner with Zana's parents. Owain is awed by the tranquillity of Zana's home, in stark contrast to the chaos of his own, and there's a mix-up leading to the assumption that Owain's mum has died. Gutted that he accidentally lied to his new friend, Owain's dreams of going back to Wales are shattered when he discovers his dad's job has been made permanent. When he discovers that pet hen Bronwyn has vanished from her coop it's the final straw. Owain assumes Bronwyn has flown back to Wales and persuades Zana to get the train with him, but the train journey soon proves disastrous.
