Episode 4 of 5

Drama series following kids as they move to secondary school. Polly copes with her new school by filming everything through the camera on her mobile phone.

Polly isn't good at making friends - she's much happier seeing the world through the camera on her mobile phone, even though they're banned at her new secondary school. Polly's an investigative reporter making a film about her first days at big school, and she wants to be left alone, despite the attentions of eager classmate Charlie. Back at home, Polly's widowed dad Pete is also happier with machines than people, and although he tries his best, it's not just Polly who struggles to communicate - Polly clearly misses her film-buff mum.

Polly's investigations take a dramatic turn when she accidentally films Serena, the most popular girl at school, extorting money from Charlie. Unable to get advice from her dad, Polly's attempt to speak to witness (and heartthrob) Luca proves unsuccessful when it turns out he's Serena's boyfriend. When Charlie refuses to talk about the incident, Polly becomes increasingly isolated. Polly bravely attempts to confront Serena, but ends up being humiliated - and to make matters worse, it's in front of Luca. Later, Serena ambushes Polly after school and smashes her phone. Now she really is on her own.

At home Pete tends to Polly's bruises, but Polly doesn't want to talk about it. Polly feels helpless - until Charlie reveals Luca helped him to film Serena ambushing Polly. Buoyed with new evidence, the two investigators report Serena to the head.

Still despondent without her camera phone, Polly is thrilled when her dad reveals he's restored her mum's Super 8 camera for Polly to make films with. The spare room has been turned into a makeshift cinema, and Polly and her dad watch old films of the family together.
