Leyla's drinking continues to put a strain on the family. Nicole gets a shocking wake-up call when she visits her father in prison. Stella finds an unlikely ally in Miriam.
Nicole is disgusted by Leyla's irresponsible behaviour when she discovers an internet shopping binge and rebukes Leyla for only looking after number one. Stevie challenges Nicole's attitude and accuses her of being cruel. He steps in and helps out taking Conor and Adeeb to school when the expired car tax and MOT mean Leyla can't drive. Making an effort for Stevie's sake, Nicole takes Leyla's side when she suggests Zinnie might have been the one who used Leyla's card to order everything online. Zinnie is outraged and confides in Nicole about her concerns over Leyla's drinking. Nicole and Stevie both side with Leyla over Zinnie until Nicole finds a stash of alcohol hidden under Leyla's bed. She begs a reticent Stevie to take on this responsibility and talk to Leyla about their worries. Stevie confronts Leyla who is embarrassed to admit she did order everything after a bit too much wine. She tries to laugh it off but Stevie sees through her facade and awkwardly questions how bad things are for her if she is drowning herself in booze every night. Nicole eavesdrops on their chat and is horrified to hear Stevie suggest that Leyla should stop living a lie if she truly loves Gabriel. Nicole berates Stevie and when he defends his approach as a recovering addict, Nicole swears that she will do and say anything to keep the family together for her Dad. Leyla and Nicole go to visit Michael in prison and are deeply shocked to see him battered and bruised. Both women struggle to find any connection with the damaged man in front of them. Michael asks Nicole for a moment alone with Leyla and furiously challenges her over the continuation of the affair with Gabriel. He demands that she stay away from Gabriel and take responsibility for the family. As the meeting ends Michael surprises Nicole by telling her he doesn't want her to visit him again - he can't handle her seeing him like this, in this place. After the visit, Leyla is desperate for a drink and flies into a rage when she finds that Stevie has emptied the house of booze. She storms out to the pub and when Nicole tries to stop her Leyla gives her some home truths. Her life and future is bleak while the world is Nicole's oyster. So the least she can do is let her have a drink. At the Ship, Leyla finds a willing drinking companion in Miriam and apologises to Zinnie for accusing her of the credit card fraud. As a peace offering, Nicole finds Leyla at the Ship with Miriam and pleads with her to come home. She even invites Miriam to join Leyla for a takeaway at the house. Unwilling at first, Leyla quickly jumps at the chance when she comes face to face with Gabriel entering the bar. Arriving home with a hungry Miriam, Nicole makes them both comfortable and deliberately provides Leyla with a bottle of wine as a way to help her cope in this crazy domestic situation. She reiterates to Stevie that she'll do whatever it takes to keep her family together. Is Nicole becoming an enabler?
Stella and Bob have their fingers crossed when Stella thinks she might be pregnant but both are bitterly disappointed when it turns out to be a false alarm. Unaware that Bob has spread the rumour around the Mullen clan, Stella bumps into a tactless Scarlett and Molly who demands to know if she's in the family way. Hiding in the back of the Oyster, Stella confides in Deek that she thinks her colourful past might be affecting her fertility. Taking his advice, Stella heads to the health centre and is forced to take an appointment with Miriam. Dismissive at first, Miriam is moved by Stella's story about her past and provides her with brusque encouragement and advice. Stella leaves happily in the knowledge that she has an ally.
Deek puts together a rental contract for Will to the surprise of both Zinnie and Robbie. Desperate to see his friend and his boyfriend get on, Robbie encourages them to spend more time together. Deek agrees but finds his arm twisted into hosting a 'Welcome to the Flat' night for Will. Increasingly irritated by Will's condescension, Deek gets very drunk and challenges Will to fisticuffs. Laughed off by the rest of the group, Will and Robbie decide to turn in early. When a contrite Deek returns home, Robbie is lacking in sympathy and tells Deek that he and Will are moving out to find a place together. And an unhappy Deek can do nothing to argue.
