DI Donald presses Frances to probe into Lenny's affairs. Gabriel disappoints both Kelly-Marie and Leyla. Nicole decides to take her relationship with Stevie to the next level.
DI Donald puts pressure on Frances to help him by swapping Lenny's sim card for one he has provided. She reluctantly agrees after he threatens to have Agnes evicted from the care home. After initially failing to do it, she steals keys from Lenny's jacket and goes back to his office where she completes the swap despite being disturbed by a suspicious Molly. Agnes reacts furiously to the news that Frances has been doing the DI's bidding, but when he provides information about a dinner between Lenny and an underworld fixer Vince, Agnes tells Frances to get an invite. When she tells the DI that she has wangled the invite she balks at his request that she wear a wire. She refuses but later finds the DI sitting in Amber Cabs talking to Lenny. A rattled Frances agrees to the DI's request but as he fits the wire, she realises he is infatuated with her and she has the upper hand. Before the meeting with Vince, Frances becomes nervous when Lenny puts his arm around her waist and moves her into a corner, but it is only to give her a birthday present. Despite Vince's protests, Lenny insists Frances be allowed to sit in on all business discussions, but when they get down to the nitty gritty, Frances excuses herself and flushes the wire down the toilet to avoid giving DI Donald enough to incriminate Lenny. The DI is furious but Agnes, for once, is delighted with her daughter's progress in their bid to destroy Lenny.
Gabriel asks a delighted Kelly-Marie out on a date, but his day starts to go downhill from there. He takes delivery of Michael's present as a favour to Leyla, but breaks it as he unwraps it. Keen not endure Leyla's ire, Gabriel tries to cover up the mistake and fix it before she sees it. He spends all day working on it while telling Leyla it has not been delivered. Meantime, Leyla is getting increasingly irate with the delivery company. When Kelly-Marie drops over a toy car that has been delivered to the arcade, Gabriel explains that it is a present for Leyla. Gabriel is so pre-occupied with fixing the chair, he has to be reminded by Kelly-Marie about their date. When Gabriel goes on a mission to buy some wood glue, he meets Leyla who is furious at the delivery firm, and a furtive Gabriel offers to chase it up for her. That evening, with the chair finally fixed, a relieved Gabriel is showing it to Leyla when Malcolm lets slip that Gabriel had broken it. Leyla is furious and Gabriel is indignant. When he arrives late for his date, he continues to harp on about the incident to a thoroughly unimpressed Kelly-Marie who goes home early leaving Gabriel to ponder where his head is really at.
Nicole and Stevie are loved-up and Nicole is frustrated that they never seem to get time together. She confesses to Christina the truth about her relationship with Stevie and confides that she is ready to take it to the next stage. When Stevie gets offered work at Hayley's that evening while she's out, the couple see their chance, but are frustrated when Hayley returns home early. Nicole decides to get her dad's keys and sneak Stevie into the surgery, but when they get there, she realises this is not what she wanted for her first time with Mr Perfect. Stevie agrees. Better to wait until she is sure. But there is one thing she is sure about - him. And it is time to stop sneaking around so, she takes him by the hand and formally introduces her boyfriend to her father and stepmother.
