The United States looked set to avoid a potentially catastrophic default on its debt, after the House Of Representatives voted in favour to increase the country's debt ceiling. We ask Patrick Armstrong, Managing Director of Distinction Asset Management, what he makes of the deal. Bank reporting season's in full swing. Yesterday HSBC reported healthy profits of 11 billion dollars and Barclay's now releases theirs. Ralph Silva, banking analyst at SRN, joins us. One pension black hole appears to be shrinking - in 2010 pension deficits at FTSE 100 companies shrank by almost two thirds, according to the annual Accounting for Pensions report by consulting actuaries, LCP. Joining us is Bob Scott, the author of the report and Senior Partner at LCP.
