Thirty years after he was brought up in care, the programme takes Lord Adonis back to a children's home to talk to young people about the realities of living in care in 2011.
A unique insight into life inside a children's home.
Thirty years after he himself was brought up in a Camden children's home, Victoria takes the Labour peer and former schools minister Lord Adonis back to a similar home to talk to the young people living there. He wanted to see for himself the realities of living in care in 2011. Children's services across the UK are under pressure due to council budget cuts, and Lord Adonis worries that social work is close to crisis.
Two teenagers give him a tour of an eight bedroomed children's home run by the charity St Christopher's Fellowship on behalf of Camden Council.
And to discuss provision for children in care with Lord Adonis, Brian Smith, assistant director of Children's Services for St Christopher's Fellowship, which runs the home, and Matt Dunkley, president of the Association of Directors of Children's Services.
