Rescue Me
Medical drama series. Elizabeth hopes to keep her birthday quiet, but her mother unexpectedly turns up at the hospital, and her personal and professional lives collide.
Elizabeth doesn't want a fuss made over her birthday, and just wants to get on with her work when her mother, Simone, turns up unannounced. Elizabeth empathises when a patient doesn't want his family informed of his presence in hospital, but she begins to worry that he may be the victim of abuse. Elizabeth feels she has betrayed the patient's trust when she is forced to inform the police. Matters are made worse when Simone reappears with a deep cut to her head. Elizabeth tries to treat her mother secretly. However, suddenly her patient goes into arrest and dies in theatre, compounding Elizabeth's feelings of guilt. After a heart-to-heart with the patient's son, Elizabeth draws comparisons with her relationship with Simone. Simone has a psychotic episode, witnessed by Ric, and we begin to realise the weight of responsibility upon Elizabeth's young shoulders.
Sacha is under pressure from Hanssen, and doesn't have enough beds or staff to deal with the chaos. The new temp nurse, Chantelle, arrives late but appears to be efficient. However, this is shown not to be the case. Eddi, a patient's friend and a professional nurse, comes to the rescue, resulting in Sacha hiring her for the day and AAU is transformed. Hanssen is impressed by the turnaround, and at the end of the shift Sacha offers Eddi the job full time.
Jac is in bullish mood when she finds out that Plastics are taking up valuable theatre time when she has a life-threatening situation on her hands. This puts Jac on the warpath. When she comes across an invoice for some breast implants, she turns detective and finds some real dirt on Michael and Sunil. To buy Jac's silence, Michael makes her an offer she can't refuse.
