From the Barbican Hall, the London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Colin Davis with contrasting symphonies on either side of the concert: first, Haydn's Symphony No. 97, one of the masterworks he wrote and premiered in London, and at the end, Carl Nielsen's Symphony No. 4, the 'Inextinguishable', a passionate reflection on the unquenchable will to live. Between them, Mozart's charming Piano Concerto No. 17 with super-star Mitsuko Uchida as soloist.
