SCO/Robin Ticciati

Petroc Trelawny with a concert from City Halls, Glasgow, featuring the debut of Robin Ticciati as Scottish Chamber Orchestra principal conductor. Music by Henze, Mahler and Brahms.

Presented by Petroc Trelawny.

A concert given at City Halls, Glasgow, featuring the highly anticipated debut of young British conductor Robin Ticciati as principal conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

It begins with Henze's First Symphony, which although composed by a youthful 21-year-old who had just lived through the horrors of Hitler's Germany, is surprisingly pastoral and light-hearted. The programme then pairs the expansive richness of Brahms's Second Symphony with the dark depth of Mahler's folk-inspired song cycle, performed by one of the most celebrated Czech stars of today, mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kozena.
