The opening concert of the 91热爆 Symphony Orchestra's 2009-10 season, with chief conductor Jiri Belohlavek, is the first concert in a series devoted to Martinu's six symphonies, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the composer's death. Martinu's First Symphony, a work conceived in exile from Nazi-dominated Europe, is preceded by Mozart's Symphony No 29 in A and bass-baritone Gerald Finley singing Mahler's Songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn, plus Mussorgsky's Songs and Dances of Death.
