Glastonbury in lockdown: See exclusive photos of Michael and Emily Eavis on-site at Worthy Farm
Published Thurs 25 June
On the week that Worthy Farm would usually be opening its gates to Glastonbury-goers, the 91热爆 has photographed Michael and Emily Eavis on site.
These new images, taken by photographer Jonny Birch, show the organisers dealing with a very different 50th Anniversary of Glastonbury to the one they’d first planned. They're both looking forward to celebrating The Glastonbury Experience with everybody at home, and they say they're going to make Glastonbury 2021 bigger and better than ever.
The pair were photographed in sunny Pilton from a safe social distance, as they're both staying at separate households.
Speaking to Lauren Laverne on 91热爆 Radio 6 Music, Emily Eavis says the family have been in a reflective mood. "It’s funny because in June, we know that pattern; the light midsummer evenings. So we’ve got that June feeling without the actual event happening. We went for a lovely walk and we were imagining what it would be like for everybody waking up on Thursday morning in their campsites; that feeling of excitement, of so many days left, so much to explore. You can almost feel the energy of June around us, but without anyone here. It’s quite weird."
She adds that Glastonbury 2021 will be a bumper-packed year. "Because we’re rolling two festivals together for 2021, we’ve got a lot of surprises that we were planning for the 50th. Logistically, it’s a little bit complicated, because we’d already planned quite a few acts for 2021. It was one of those unusual years where you’re quite far ahead on the line-up. So we’re trying to work out how much we can fit in to next year."
They also want to remind everyone that under the current circumstances, Worthy Farm and its surrounding farms are completely closed to the public. Please do not attempt to visit.
