Walter's Jazz Notes
CAROLINE BROWN
Caroline has established herself as our top Big Band jazz singer and is the resident vocalist with The Belfast Jazz Orchestra, as well as in the small group of Ivan Black. In recent years she has travelled widely on holiday in Europe and has found her way into many of the jazz clubs in the countries she visits.
When she undertook an impromptu spot in a hotel in Malta, she was immediately invited onto a local TV jazz show. In Jazz Club Caroline talks about her recent performance with clarinet superstar Brian Carrick and of the significance of one of the songs she sang that night, Burgundy Street Blues.
KEN JORDAN
Ken's musical career is steeped in the music of the Big Bands. On the music staff of Methodist College, he has been influential over many years in encouraging the musical talents of young Ulster musicians.
He is musical director of three orchestras, The Ulster Youth Jazz Orchestra, the Belfast Jazz Orchestra and the Ken Jordan Jazz Orchestra.
In Jazz Club he discusses the links between all three.
