Meet the artist: Kim Thompson

The first time artist watched Twin Peaks, she had just left art school.

'I was struck at once by the programme’s dark dramatic tone and unique colour palette.

The series is both funny and frightening. I wanted to reflect that wierd mix of emotions with my images.

Dave James (the producer) and I combined the Sergeant Pepper album cover with the sheriff’s badge from Twin Peaks to create a first rough draft.

I hand painted each character in pen and ink and then scanned them and added filters.

I selected colours based on the warm coffee red and coral palette that is predominant in the series. I also used the distinctive lime green from the main title font.

I like to think the end result has captured the strangely timeless parallel universe of Twin Peaks.'
