Fame Academy - three more students voted in

Three hopefuls tonight (Saturday 2 August) won Fame Academy places after a live battle on 91热爆 ONE.

Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty introduced stunning performances from six potential students.

The panel of Bee Gee Robin Gibb and Carrie and David Grant (vocal coaches) helped viewers with expert opinions and analysis on the performances.

The two hopefuls with the most viewers' votes automatically won a place. They were:

Paris Campbell-Edwards, aged 23, from London, RnB, soft rock, keyboard player, singing Don't Want To Miss A Thing;

and Barry McKeever, aged 25, from Lergan, Belfast, mainstream pop, soul, singing Handbags and Gladrags.

With only one place left it was up to the students - the seven students from previous shows and tonight's two winners - to make the final choice.

In a tense vote Simone Stewart, aged 26, from Harrow, grabbed the night's third and final place with eight of the nine votes after singing Midnight Train To Georgia.

Afterwards Paris said: "I just feel lost at the moment. It feels so good, I've been working at this for a long time and it's an amazing moment."

Barry said: "I really can't believe this, a year ago I hadn't even sung in public before and now I'm here - it's fantastic."

And Simone said: "When David Grant said this was the best singing he'd heard so far, I was absolutely gobsmacked, I couldn't believe it."

For the unsuccessful hopefuls the Fame Academy dream is over, after months of auditions that started with over 12,000 applicants:

Sally Dawson, 26, from Bradford, powerful soul, sSinging Son Of A Preacher Man;

Ryan Fletcher, 20, from Glasgow, indie, guitar playing songwriter, Singing Mrs Robinson;

and Nathan Thomas, 24, from Hertford, soulful guitarist and songwriter Singing You've Got A Friend.

The audition shows conclude on Wednesday (6 August) at 8.00pm on 91热爆 ONE when three hopefuls will win the last three places at the Academy.

Only then will the final 13 students enter the Academy and begin their intensive training and singing for survival.

The final six hopefuls are:

Alex Parks, 18, from Truro, folk-indie, guitarist, singer-songwriter;

Janee Bennett, 21, from Stockport, pop, reggae;

Lorna Grant, 20, from Edinburgh, pop, dance, theatre singer;

Mark Vallance, 25, from Birmingham, RnB, pop, guitarist, songwriter;

Nick Hall, 29, from Birmingham, soft rock, guitarist, songwriter;

and Terence Surin, 20, from South East London, RnB, soul and pop.

The ultimate Fame Academy winner will win a contract with Polydor.

They will also land a show business lifestyle for a year, which includes a luxury flat, a car, a recording session at Abbey Road studios, a luxury holiday for two, a personal stylist and VIP tickets to some of the year's biggest events.

Students who have already secured their Academy places are: Alistair Griffin, Carolynne Good, Louise Griffiths, Gary Phelan, Peter Brame, James Fox and Audley Anderson.
