Fame Academy - "You choose them, We'll teach them"


Fame Academy returns to 91热爆 ONE, 91热爆 THREE, C91热爆 and 91热爆i this summer with the competition hotter than ever to win a coveted place in the Academy.

The start of series 2 will see 25 talented young hopefuls battling it out to win one of the 13 student places in the Academy - with the viewers at home voting for who wins a place.


The final 13 will get to meet and perform alongside some of the biggest stars in the music business who will be conducting exclusive master classes and sharing their wisdom and tips for the top.


This year's winner will secure a years contract with the UK's leading record label Polydor, the company behind international selling-artists Eminem, 50 Cent, Sting, Ian Brown, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Ms Dynamite.


Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees will be joining the show as a panellist.


Robin is one of the of the world's respected and successful songwriters, having sold a staggering 110 million records and written dozens of hugely successful hits with his brothers for both the Bee Gees and artists ranging from Dionne Warwick to Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand.


Colin Barlow, joint MD of Polydor, said: "The quality of raw talent that we have seen in the auditions is really outstanding, the best I have ever seen.


"The winner will have to display phenomenal musical ability and the star quality to wow their Academy peers and captivate the voting public."


Familiar faces from the teaching staff will be back but there will be some new names and a few surprises.


Students entering the Academy will be tutored by the very best in the industry.


Richard Park returns as Head Teacher, Carrie and David Grant as vocal coaches, Kevin Adams as fitness coach, Jeremy Milnes as Personal Tutor and Jo Noel as Music Teacher.


The teachers will train them in musical and song-writing skills, performance style, vocal coaching and fitness - honing their talent, their voices and their bodies and offering the chance of a successful career in music.


Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty return to introduce 25 potential students on 91热爆 ONE and invite the public to vote for the ones they think should enter the Academy and face the weekly challenges of training, probation and singing for survival.


91热爆 THREE reveals all the behind-the-scenes news and exclusive interviews with Liquid News' Claudia Winkleman.


And C91热爆, presented by Jake Humphrey and Holly Willoughby, provides regular glimpses into the day-to-day life and gruelling training schedules inside the Academy.


Live round-the-clock action will also be available on 91热爆i.


The winner will also land a show business lifestyle for a year which includes a luxury flat, a top of the range sports car, a recording session at Abbey Road studios, a luxury holiday for two, a personal stylist and VIP tickets to some of the year's biggest events.


Over 14 million phone votes in total were cast during the first series of Fame Academy that was won by David Sneddon.


The final, which was watched by 8.2 million viewers, generated 6.9 million votes - making it the highest ever phone poll for a 91热爆 show.


Following the success of the show 13.8 million people (53% share of the viewing public) then watched Will Mellor win Comic Relief Does Fame Academy on the night of Red Nose Day 2003, raising 拢600,000 through phone line voting.


The new series will open with exclusive coverage of the open auditions.


Fame Academy Executive producer Louise Rainbow said: "The auditions attracted over twelve thousand hopefuls from across the UK and the standard has been higher than ever.


"Many of them even camped out over night to secure their place at the front of the queues."


Profits made from Fame Academy phone lines and record sales have so far raised over 拢1 million for the Fame Academy Bursary fund.


And from 1 July young talent across the UK has been applying to get their hands on the cash to help their dreams come true.


Fame Academy is an Initial Production (part of Endemol UK).

* Fame Academy - The Final was the top rated entertainment show of 2002 amongst the 16-34 year old age group.


* On 91热爆 THREE, Fame Academy - The Final was watched by up to 738,000 with 9.7% share across all multichannel homes. This made it the most watched programme on 91热爆 THREE


* Fame Academy on C91热爆 reached 4.6 million children (50%) of all children) over the ten weeks.


* The Fame Academy interactive application attracted 1.6 million users, with average time spent on the 'Live' screen at least an hour a day.


This was one of 91热爆i's top five interactive applications since its launch last year.


* The Fame Academy website attracted more than 14 million page impression requests since it launched in October. The messageboard was the busiest ever hosted by 91热爆i.


* The top five students from the first series - David Sneddon, Sinead Quinn, Malachi Cush, Lemar Obika and Ainslie Henderson - have all signed record deals and are in the process of writing, recording and touring all their own original material.


* The other students are also using the song-writing, recording and vocal skills that they developed in the Academy to pursue careers in music.


All 12 students have also just completed a sell-out Fame Academy tour.


* Viewers will enjoy a close-up view of the real life stories, characters and relationships that develop as the students go through intense training.


We will see them living together, rehearsing together and witness all the tears, tantrums, successes and failures along the way.


* The realities of what it takes to become a music superstar will be exposed as leading specialists from all fields of the industry give students the best professional training there is - from performance and song writing to behind-the-scenes preparation.


* In this highly pressurised environment the challenge is to stay ahead, as each week the Academy teachers put three students who have not made the grade on probation and will then culminate every week in a "showdown".


* Here these three students will have to "sing for survival" before one of them is dramatically expelled.


First the public vote to save one of the three - then it's up to the rest of the students to choose between the remaining two in a nail-biting final vote.


* The 拢35 million Academy, located in stunning private grounds in North London, has been kitted out with state of the art equipment and facilities to nurture the student's raw talent and will also be their home for the weeks of intensive, round-the-clock training.
