Fame
Academy comes to the 91热爆
Launching
next month across the 91热爆 with shows on 91热爆 ONE, 91热爆 Choice and
C91热爆, a sensational new primetime entertainment series from leading
producer Initial (part of Endemol UK) will begin honing some of
the best raw musical talent in Britain, wth Cat Deeley and Patrick
Kielty presenting on 91热爆 ONE.
Fame Academy will see 12 students - selected from over ten thousand
18-35 year old applicants across the UK - enter the ultimate training
academy for musical stardom.
This
will be their chance of a lifetime to realise the full potential
of their talent.
听
The students will move into a 拢35 million mansion in North
London, which has been converted into a high tech, high spec Academy
with its own teachers, dance studios, gym, bedrooms, relaxation
areas and of course, a hot tub.
The
series will be a close up view of the real life stories, characters
and relationships that develop as the students go through intense
training to reach the level of leading talent such as Robbie Williams,
Mary J Blige and David Gray.
We
will see them living together, rehearsing together and witness all
the tears, tantrums, successes and failures along the way.
The
realities of what it takes to become a music superstar will be exposed
as leading specialists from all fields of the industry give students
the best professional training there is from performance and song
writing to behind-the-scenes preparation.
Some
of the biggest stars of today will visit the Academy to hold master
classes as the students train to become the ultimate performers.
In
this highly pressurised environment the challenge is to stay ahead,
as each week the Academy teachers put three students who have not
made the grade on probation and will then culminate every week in
a showdown presented by Cat and Patrick.
91热爆
Choice will also be showing Fame Academy shows and the presenters
will be Vanessa Langford, most recently seen on 91热爆 Choice's Liquid
News, and Danann Breathnach.
Here
these three students will have to sing for survival before one of
them is dramatically expelled.
First
the public vote to save one of the three - then it is up to the
rest of the students to choose between the remaining two in a nail-biting
final vote.
Fame
Academy's unfolding story, with all its drama and tensions, will
go out across the 91热爆.
The
series will climax with the last remaining student winning the opportunity
of a lifetime, an unprecedented launch into the music industry and
the showbiz world - to be revealed in the coming weeks.
The Class of 2002 take their place at the Academy early next month
where they will be under the instruction of the Head Teacher, the
tough former Capital Radio Programme Director, Richard Park - and
his four staff of leading industry professionals.
听
The
cameras will be filming their every move up to 24 hours a day as
they work to the Academy's strict and demanding daily timetable
of training classes and performance.
In
the closing week of the show, the remaining three students will
face a final public vote to decide who is top of Class 2002.
Executive
producer, Richard Hopkins, says: "We have discovered a group
of people with genuine musical talent in genres ranging from soul
and R&B to rock and pop.
"They
all have what it takes to make it in the music business, but we
are going to give them the best tuition there is and watch them
as they try to make it happen.
"It's
going to be a ground breaking series and I know we will create some
memorable moments."
Fame
Academy has been commissioned by Jane Lush, the Controller of Entertainment
Commissioning for the 91热爆.
Academy
facts
The
Academy will be based at London's second largest privately owned
stately home, Witanhurst House in Highgate.
The
property has undergone a major conversion to make way for an army
of television production staff and the live-in students and teachers.
The
students have been selected over the last couple of months from
over 10,000 hopefuls.
At
auditions across the UK, talented young people queued to audition
for the chance to study at the Academy. The very best were invited
to a second stage of auditions and the final group selected after
further interviews and auditions.
Once
in the Academy, the students will study hard under the guidance
of Carrie Grant, the vocal coach; Kevin Adams, the choreographer;
and a song writing tutor, Pam Sheyne.
Personal
tutor Jeremy Milnes will be on hand to solve any problems or lend
a sympathetic ear, and the teaching staff will themselves be ruled
by the imperious but fair Richard Park.
A
rigorous timetable has been put in place as the students only have
a very short amount of time to learn and practice their skills for
the showdown.
Throughout
the series, there will be masterclasses given by leading musicians
who will share their experiences and tips with the students.
The
British public will vote for their favourite on each week's showdown.
Whoever gets the most votes stays and can resume their studies.
Of the two who remain, the other students will have to vote to save
one.
Once
students leave the Academy, they will have guaranteed representation
by leading management company The Firm.
In
addition Mercury Records, the home of UK signed artists including
Darius, Texas, Lulu, Def Leppard and Elton John amongst others,
will have an option to sign each student as a solo artist.
Fame
Academy will be going out across the 91热爆 with the full schedule
to be announced in the coming weeks.
The
91热爆 is setting up a bursary scheme for new talent into which 91热爆
profits will be diverted. Children In Need will also benefit.
Fame
Academy follows Endemol's international success in similar genres
with formats that first went to air in Europe as long as two years
ago.
These
have been major hits, particularly in Spain, but also in Holland
and France.
