Fame Academy - Initial, Mercury Records and The Firm


Initial (part of Endemol UK)


Emmy Award-winning Initial is a leading producer of music entertainment and live event television. Its programmes have been seen in over 100 countries.


Live event productions include The Orange British Academy Film Awards (91热爆 ONE); The Q Awards (Channel 5) and Party in the Park (Channel 5).


Music entertainment credits include Pop (Channel 5) which showcases breaking acts and some of the hottest new names around and is recorded from legendary live venue, the Marquee.


Music documentaries include Inside Bjork for Channel 5, the definitive profile of one of the world s most innovative artists; Our Manics in Havana (Channel 4) - which followed The Manic Street Preachers' historic performance in Cuba - and The Voice, a landmark three-part special for Channel 4 to be broadcast in 2003, which journeys through the greatest vocal talents ever.


Initial's youth programming includes 91热爆 ONE's pop music dramas Miami 7 and LA 7 (featuring S Club 7) - which were major international hits.


Initial has worked with nearly every major international music artist in the world - from Elton John, Madonna, David Bowie, Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson to U2, Robbie Williams and Travis.


Milestones music and event programmes include The Brit Awards 1993-2000 (ITV), The White Room (Channel 4), The Three Tenors (91热爆 ONE), Orchestra! (Channel 4) and Concerto (Channel 4).


Initial is part of the Endemol UK group, one of the UK's leading producers of entertainment formats for the worldwide market and behind some of the biggest hits to come out of the UK.


The group is dedicated to content that works across a variety of media and incorporates three other production brands - Endemol UK Productions, Brighter Pictures and Zeppotron.


Other credits include the BAFTA-winning productions of Big Brother (Channel 4; E4), which have broken records across Channel 4, E4, the Internet, phone voting, interactive TV and mobile text messaging.





Endemol UK's latest entertainment shows include the terrifying team challenge Fear Factor (Sky One); International King of Sports and Swapheads - part of Channel 5's new entertainment line-up.


Endemol UK has also pioneered TV genres including the popular 91热爆 leisure entertainment shows - Changing Rooms, Ground Force and Ready Steady Cook.


These continue to be some of the most watched shows on TV and have also become international hits in more than 16 countries.


Endemol UK is wholly owned by Europe's leading television content multinational Endemol, which spans 21 countries and is 100% owned by Spanish telecoms and media giant Telefonica.


Mercury Records


Mercury Records is a division of Universal Music.


Mercury is the home of UK signed artists including Darius, Texas, Lulu, Def Leppard and Elton John.


The Serious dance label is part of Mercury UK, with an artist roster including Sonique and Mad'House.


Mercury is the UK home for Island Def Jam, one of the hottest label groups in America with artists including Sum 41, Ja Rule, Mariah Carey, Jay Z, Bon Jovi and Ashanti, and the Lost Highway label with Ryan Adams.


Mercury is the sister label to Mercury Nashville, who have one of the world's biggest stars, Shania Twain.



The Firm


Fame Academy has arranged for the students to have guaranteed representation by The Firm, one of the world's most respected management agencies, once they leave.


The contract between The Firm and the Fame Academy students is a standard music industry deal.


The Firm were one of a number of management companies who were approached to represent the students and were considered to offer the best option for the interests of the students.


The Firm is the pre-eminent talent management company in today's music and film business.


The company started in 1998 and has its main operations in Los Angeles with other offices in New York, Nashville and London.


The European office opened in London in March this year, headed by former BMG European President Richard Griffiths and former RCA Managing Director Harry Magee.


The company is currently recruiting a creative team of managers and promotion and marketing personnel to facilitate a UK signing and acquisition policy.


The objective of The Firm in Europe is to build a roster of artists and brands out of their London office whilst providing full representation for its myriad of existing talent from the U.S.


This list of music clients include Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Enrique Iglesias, Dixie Chicks and Mary J. Blige.


Current film clients include Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Vin Diesel, Samuel L Jackson, Martin Scorsese and Dustin Hoffman.


The Firm also owns the sports brand Pony International and the American children's cartoon TV character Arthur, which is currently being screened on 91热爆 Television.


In addition their film division is currently developing several motion pictures for worldwide distribution.
