Four runaway raccoons have been safely returned to their safari park home after escaping last week.

The 18-month-old raccoons got out of their enclosure at Amazon World Zoo Park last week.

The four raccoon sisters had arrived at the park three weeks ago and have had a huge team of people looking for them.

Heat-seeking drones and sniffer dogs were been used in the search.

Rachel Patrick, head keeper at the zoo, said she was "elated and so pleased that we have them all back now鈥.

All four raccoons have been found safe and well.

There are five raccoon sisters at the site, each named after parts of the US, where the animals live in the wild.

Winnipeg, Dakota, Myrtle and Alma left Marion behind on Thursday night after they "bust a hole in the roof" of their enclosure, Ms Patrick said.

The first was found within the zoo grounds on Friday night, with the second found on top of the parrot perches on Saturday evening.

The third was spotted in the early hours of Monday morning and the final one was found overnight on Tuesday 6 November.

The zoo staff have said they will be kept safely in an enclosure away from the public, alongside their fifth sibling that did not escape.
