An under-12's girls' football team have been called "invincibles" after winning a league dominated by boys' teams.

Queens Park Ladies gained promotion to the second division of the Bournemouth Youth Football League in their first season in the competition.

Not only that, the team went the whole season without losing a single match!

They completed their 22-game campaign by scoring 61 goals and conceding only 11.

Queens Park Ladies under-12s defender Edith told the 91Èȱ¬: "At first [the boys] underestimated us and they were sniggering and they didn't take us seriously - but then we showed them if they can do it, so can we.

"It's just amazing that we got to do it together and as a team and we could show them that we're more than they expected," she added.

Toby Green, the team's manager, explained the girls had put in a lot of effort and practice since joining the league .

The big stat for me is [the team] only conceded 11 goals over 22 games, which is outstanding

He said: "It's officially a mixed league but the reality is that it's all boys' teams in there."

Mr Green added that girls worked hard on their formation and did lots of drills on the training ground.

It certainly paid off as the team went the whole season unbeaten - winning 18 matches and drawing four.
