Hero Dog Award 2024: Finalists in pictures

The Kennel Club, which runs the famous dog competition Crufts, has revealed the finalists for its Hero Dog Award. The competition is all about celebrating the special relationship people have with man's best friend. The public can now vote for which courageous pooch they'd like to see win the title of the UK's most heroic dog. There are a number of hounds in the running, all with amazing stories.
Golden retriever Phoebe helps her owner, and team GB para-sailor, Jazz get the most out of life. Jazz says that Phoebe gives her an independence she wouldn't have without her pet pooch.
Search and rescue dog Vesper is another finalist. The Belgian Malinois works to find survivors involved in bad incidents all around the world with her handler Niamh Darcy, and has helped save lots of lives.
Gordon the black Labrador supports his 12-year-old owner Elyana who has hearing loss. Elyana's mum said thanks to Gordon, she is positive and excited for the future, and doesn't feel that her deafness will stop her from achieving what she wants to.
Australian shepherd Echo has been by the side of her young owner Freya through thick and thin. Eight-year-old Freya was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer three years go which made her very poorly. Echo helped to make Freya happy again.
