Royal Mint: New 2024 coins celebrate Buckingham Palace and British athletes

New coins to celebrate Buckingham Palace as well as the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic games have been revealed.
The coins have been chosen as they will all mark important anniversaries and moments in history next year.
The 2024 annual set also includes a tribute to the National Gallery and RNLI charity, as well as marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of one of the UK's most famous Prime Ministers - Sir Winston Churchill.
The Royal Mint - the UK's official maker of British coins - has been regularly issuing new sets of coins for over fifty years.
What new coins will come out in 2024?
Five new coins have been unveiled and next year's commemorative set include new 拢5, 拢2 and 50p coins.
Buckingham Palace will feature on a special 拢5 coin, there will be a 拢2 coin celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Winston Churchill, as well as a 拢2 coin marking the 200th anniversary of the National Gallery.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), the charity that saves lives at sea, is also celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2024 and will feature on a new 50p coin.
Finally, a special 50p coin which depicts two athletes will also be released.
The Royal Mint said it produced an official UK coin to celebrate and wish Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes the best of luck at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games which will take place next summer.
