  15. NFU President: 'Absolutely essential' we reach EU dealpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 24 August 2018

The President of the National Farmers Union has issued a stark warning over the possibility of a no-deal Brexit.

    farming

The NFU has emphasised the need for free and frictionless trade with the EU.

It has called for clarity on what will happen if the UK leaves the EU without a trade deal in place.

In Lincolnshire, one in 10 people are currently employed in the food and farming industry, which is worth about 拢1bn to the county each year.

The government says that when the UK leaves the EU it will "develop its own trade policy for the first time in more than forty years boosting trading relationships, maximising global opportunities, and securing trade deals that work for our farmers, producers and consumers.鈥

    Quote Message

It highlights how absolutely essential it is that we do achieve a deal with the EU, it's very clear that no deal being achieved would mean that this country reverts to third country status. We would then be subjected to the highest rate of tarrif wall."

Minette Batters, President of the National Farmers Union

The resort, which attracts around 15,000 people per week, is to gain a hall of mirrors, and other new fairground rides.

The fairground will also have new decorations and current rides will be moved around.

Butlin's say its existing attractions will stay open while renovations are underway.

    Quote Message

We are investing approximately 拢4m into creating a new traditional fairground experience, something that we believe will delight guests and encourage even more people to come to the original Butlin's resort, and enjoy what we have to offer as well as the town of Skegness and surrounding area."
