    Stoke City manager Nathan Jones faces a "big couple of months" in the transfer market, according to former midfielder Liam Lawrence.

    Jones says he's drawn up lists of names he wants to bring in this summer and Lawrence says he's "got to get it right this time around, coming off the back of a really disappointing season".

    The authority is now in the control of a coalition of independents, the Green Party and the It's Our County party.

    Villa boss Dean Smith says the club's potential is "massive" after winning the Championship play-off final to return to the Premier League.

    Following Villa's 2-1 victory over Derby at Wembley on Monday, Smith says it "feels right" they are a Premier League club "because of the history and the fan base".

    Smith (pictured right with captain Jack Grealish) added he had to credit former Villa boss Steve Bruce, because "his two signings", Anwar El Ghazi and John McGinn, "scored the goals today".

    A motorcyclist has died after a crash in Bilton on the outskirts of Rugby this morning.

    The 18-year-old was taken to hospital where he died.

    Warwickshire Police said the crash also involved a car and a pedestrian in her 80s who suffered serious injuries.

    More than three miles of water pipes are being replaced around Marchamley in Shropshire, starting today.

    Severn Trent is expecting to spend 15 weeks replacing the ageing metal pipes with plastic ones.

    The work was meant to start last week but was delayed.

    Occupants of a transit van threw an immersion heater, a tool box, cans of food and a hammer on to the road in an attempt to escape from police.

    The van was eventually brought to a stop after being pursued by officers through Wood End, Coventry, on Monday.

    West Midlands Police said the van was suspected of being involved in two burglaries in the Warwickshire area and thought to be stolen.

    Three men aged 25, 26 and 29 have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and remain in police custody.

    The 29-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop and the 26-year-old on suspicion of criminal damage.

    The former Labour MP for Coventry Bob Ainsworth has said he voted for the Green Party in the European elections.

    The ex-defence secretary revealed the information earlier when he spoke in support of Alistair Campbell. Mr Cambell, Tony Blair's former communications chief, has been expelled from the Labour Party for voting for the Lib Dems in the European elections.

    Mr Ainsworth said he hadn't intended to make public his vote, but felt "obliged to do so" after Mr Campbell's expulsion.

    He described the former spin doctor as "a good friend and a man who I admire greatly".

    Mr Ainsworth was MP for Coventry North East until 2015.

  20. Man released by police after fatal crash arrestpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 28 May 2019

    Police say they've released a 19-year-old man arrested in connection with a fatal crash near Malvern on Friday.

    The victim, a pedestrian in his 70s, died at the scene near the Robin Hood pub on Gloucester Road shortly before 19:30.
