  1. Nuttall: UKIP 'vindicated' on immigration and security

    The leader of UKIP has said his party has been "vindicated" on immigration and security issues in light of recent terror attacks in the country.

    In a speech in Westminster, Paul Nuttall told the audience that he was "only sorry that this vindication has come too soon and has involved so much blood being shed".

    "If the terrible events of the spring and early summer 2017 mark a genuine turning point in political attitudes, the moment when moral relativism and political correctness are ushered off the stage and a new muscular no nonsense approach takes their place, then we will have a better chance of preventing another Manchester, or indeed another London Bridge, in the future."

    Mr Nuttall said UKIP had been the only party "with the guts to tell it how it is" and called Theresa May "complacent at best" for her time in the 91Èȱ¬ Office.

    But he said his criticisms of the prime minister "pale into complete insignificance in comparison to the the prospect of Jeremy Corbyn or a Diane Abbott government".

  3. Attacker worked for KFC

    Fast food chain KFC has confirmed that Khuram Butt worked for one of its franchises.

    A KFC spokesperson said: "We can confirm that an individual named Khuram Butt was formerly employed by one of our franchisees until 2015.

    "We will cooperate fully with the police's ongoing investigation and cannot comment any further at this stage."

    The 91Èȱ¬ has established that the franchise concerned was Auriga Holdings, which is based in East Ham.

    Transport for London had already confirmed he worked as a trainee customer services assistant for them for almost six months in 2016.

    Former deputy prime minister Nick Clegg has said the idea that internet companies should act as a censoring authority is "wholly unreal".

    He said it is "the job of lawmakers and governments" to police illegal activity online.

    When asked by Martha Kearney if he should have opposed cuts to police numbers under the coalition government, Mr Clegg said "we had to rescue the British economy".

  9. Boris Johnson on MI5: 'They do a fantastic job'

    Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said although he was not personally familiar with the details of who the third attacker was, he said the police and MI5 will be looking at all the details.

    "I've worked with them, the security services, very closely over the last eight years when I was Mayor of London.

    "I thought they did a fantastic job. I think they continue to do a fantastic job. If there are lessons to be learned from this event then of course we will learn them.

    "But it is vital they are allowed to get on with their work, that they are properly supported."

  10. May expects security review after attack

    The prime minister says she expects police and security services to launch a review as more details emerge of the attackers from Saturday night.

    In an interview with Sky News, Theresa May said she "recognised people's concerns" after it was revealed at least one of the attackers had been known to UK authorities.

    "MI5 and the police have already said they would be reviewing how they dealt with Manchester and I would expect them to do exactly the same in relation to London Bridge," she said.

    Italian police sources have confirmed London Bridge attacker Youssef Zaghba was on a watch list.

    The 22-year-old Moroccan-born Italian was stopped at Bologna airport in March 2016 when he was on his way to Turkey, due to concerns he might travel to fight in Syria.

    Material about the so-called Islamic State was found on his phone.

    Italian sources told the 91Èȱ¬ that the database which Zaghba was on would have been shared with British security forces.

    The gym where Khuram Butt trained in Ilford has posted a statement on its door after it was revealed he was one of the attackers involved on Saturday.

    The Ummah Fitness Centre in St Luke's Avenue said it was currently closed because of recent media activity.

    The statement said: "While Mr Butt did occasionally train here at UFC gym we do not know him well nor did we see anything of concern, we will of course help the police in any way we can."

  20. Hospital pays tribute to attack victim Kirsty Boden

    Guy's and St Thomas' hospital has confirmed that was one of its senior nurses.

    In a statement, it said she worked as a senior staff nurse in Theatres Recovery at Guy's Hospital.

    Dame Eileen Sills, Chief Nurse at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, said: "I cannot put into words how sad I am that we have lost one of our own.

    "Kirsty was an outstanding nurse and a hugely valued member of the staff team in Theatres Recovery, described by her colleagues as 'one in a million' who always went the extra mile for the patients in her care.

    "Our thoughts at this time are with her family, her loved ones and our staff who have lost a dear friend and colleague."
