is an area of outstanding natural beauty located in the foothills of the Mountains
of Mourne in Northern Ireland. Its huge forest park covers 460 hectares
and is a magnet for wildlife including Red Squirrels, Pine Martens and Otters.
Castlewellan is also home to the national Arboretum of Northern Ireland. | | | The great thing about woodlands is that they offer little
windows into the past. If you know what you're doing, you can get a rough idea
of the age of a forest. | | | - Our woodlands offer amazing opportunities
for wildlife watching. Why not take a few tips from the Nature's Calendar team
and try your hand at deer watching or birding?
