As dusk falls in Norfolk, a magnificent bird-watching spectacle is about to begin.

When the light of the day begins to fade, the hundreds of rooks gather on the fields for one last feed before they prepare to roost for the night.

Key attractions:Farm and nature reserve. Also visit Buckenham Marshes RSPB Reserve - free access along a public footpath. The marshes are a good place to spot wintering birds such as Wigeons and Bean Geese.
Essential kit:Binoculars, anorak. RSPB Explorer Backpacks can be obtained for children visiting the Strumpshaw Reserve.
Nature watching:

Bird-watching. Strumpshaw Fen Reserve - nature trails through a variety of habitats including reed beds and woodland plus three hides. Various RSPB events.

Access:Disabled toilets.
Getting there:

Strumpshaw Fen lies in the heart of the Norfolk Broads - just under a mile south-west of Strumpshaw. Follow the signs from Brundall High Street off the A47 east of Norwich.


Nearest railway stations - Brundall (1 and 1/2 miles). Also Buckenham - very limited service.

A bus service from Norwich stops 1/2 mile from the reserve on the Brundall to Strumpshaw road.

Note - Do not attempt to park at Buckenham Farm as there are no facilities.

Opening times:All year round. Strumpshaw RSPB Fen Reserve is open daily, dawn to dusk.
Charges:Strumpshaw Fen Reserve - Adults £2.50; Children 50p; Concessions £1.50; Family Ticket £5.
