Tanar Estate lies in the heart of Royal Deeside in Scotland and covers 25,000
acres, embracing a rich range of habitats. This
stunning wilderness location has mountains, rivers, farmland and lots of Caledonian
pine forest.
The forest boasts some of the most spectacular and specialised
creatures to be found anywhere in the UK including the highly secretive Capercaillie. | | | Autumn is a great time to see woodlands in their full seasonal

Trails
network radiating from the visitor centre providing - all abilities. The red trail
takes visitors on a circular loop along the waterway, through the pine forest
and across farmland.

access: Largely unsurfaced and variable terrain. Footbridge from car park to visitor
centre is steep side adn and Footpath networks untarmacked and gravelled - and
can get flooded in places. | Getting
there: | Located three miles southwest of Aboyne
- take the B976 road and follow the reserve signs.
Bus service to Aboyne.
Car parking at visitor centre (pay and display). | Opening
times: | The centre is open 10 am-5 pm (except
Tuesdays) between April-September - and 10 am-5 PM (except Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
