Moor lies on the site of an old colliery and is within a stone's throw of a busy
business park. At first it doesn't look like
the most promising nature location but Old Moor is literally a birders' paradise. | | | Wetlands are a haven for birds, mammals and insects especially

there: | Leave the M1 at junction 36 and take
the A61 (Barnsley). Go straight ahead on the A6195 (Doncaster) at the small roundabout.
Drive for about four miles until just after the Morrison's supermarket - then
follow the RSPB Old Moor signs. If travelling on the A1 leave at junction
37 (Doncaster) and follow the A635 towards Barnsley. Then follow the RSPB Old
Moor signs.
