The Monach Islands are a four mile strip of low lying islands in the Outer Hebrides. This beautiful and remote location is home to a very special nature spectacle - thousands of Grey Seals and their pups.

Key attraction:Grey Seals.
Essential kit:Binoculars or scope. Sensible shoes and warm clothing - it can be windy and exposed. Bring your own packed lunch.
Nature watching:

Seal spotting - you can watch the Grey Seals year round but the best time to see the seal pups is October.

Facilities:

The Monach Isles, lying off the west coast of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, comprise a chain of three low lying island - each formed from sand dune systems established over and around rocky skerries. No facilities.

Access:

Disabled access (by arrangement).

Getting there:

Boat crossings take 20 minutes from North Uist - dependent on weather conditions. Best combined with a trip to North Uist.
